    The Des Plaines History Center was founded as the Des Plaines Historical Society in 1967 with the purpose of collecting and preserving material related to the history of the Des Plaines community and bringing together people interested in history, especially the history of Des Plaines.  The History Center offers programs for adults and children, operates a museum, archives, and gift shop, and partners with many local organizations in Des Plaines.
