Juneteenth is a day when all of us can take time to reflect on the opportunities for progress before us. The chamber wanted to take a moment on this important holiday to emphasize the importance of understanding and celebrating this significant historical event. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Emancipation Day, is a holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It is a momentous occasion that deserves recognition and reflection.
Our featured speaker, Yolande Wilson Stubbs, President and CEO of Ascension Holy Family, is excited to take some time to converse about the significance of this important federal holiday. She will share her personal experience with Juneteenth and how her mother instilled the embodiment of the important message of this historical day. Attending and learning about Juneteenth not only helps us appreciate the struggles and triumphs of the enslaved, but also allows us to deepen our understanding of the ongoing fight for racial equality. By acknowledging and honoring this pivotal moment in history, we actively contribute to creating a more inclusive and just society.
